1) Paper must include a variety of scholarly sources that are referenced using proper APA style—make sure you understand APA and then make sure your partner’s paper adheres to APA in its citations, reference page, general formatting, and figure formatting. Also make sure the paper does NOT reference encyclopedias, Wikipedia, dictionaries, blogs or other sources that are not reputable.
2) Author demonstrates a working knowledge of criminal justice as it applies to a particular CJ issue .
3) Author demonstrates a working understanding of criminological theory.
4) Author demonstrates skills in explaining the use of research methods and statistics.
5) Author must demonstrate proficiency in written communication.
6) Author must demonstrate an understanding of ethical issues and exhibit their application to a criminal justice issue through discussion of an ethical code applied to two ethical dilemmas pertaining to their issue.
A research paper earning a grade of A will:
Be very well-organized, with a clear purpose.
Follows a thematic organization.
Have a thorough and informative description of the arguments/evidence from a range of scholarly sources with detailed synthesis of recent work/research.
Include a high level of critical analysis of sources/topic.
Connect sources and relate them to the topic in general and to the proposed applied research question.
Include a detailed and insightful key issue and fact file section based solidly upon evidence/sources reviewed.
Include a detailed summary and balanced discussion of current important/major theories.
Present a detailed description of the research methods used to study the topic and the strengths and weaknesses of these methodologies.
Demonstrate complexity of ethical dimensions of the selected topic.
Be clearly and logically written.
Provide graphs, charts, and tables for a visual presentation of the data (. All charts/tables/graphs are clearly labeled, appropriately cited, related to the research question, and clearly explained in the text of the paper.
Be almost entirely free of grammatical and spelling errors.
Carefully follow the assignment guidelines , including not using “you” or “we.”
Be entirely free of all forms of plagiarism and have no citation errors.
