Article Review Instruction

Everyone is required to write an article review for this class. We have 13 days for this winterim course so you need to prepare/start the writing as soon as you can. The deadline for the article review is Friday, January 20 at 10:00pm.

How to write the article review

An article review will convey information on the content of the article, but the review's main purpose is EVALUTIVE. You need to offer a critical analysis of the article. The aim of the article review is to encourage students to be thoughtful, critical, and careful readers.

Questions to Consider

What is the title of the article? What does it suggest? As you read, try to formulate questions about the article and begin to develop answers. What is the major goal of the author writing the article? Does he/she achieve his/her purpose? Does the author's evidence support his/her points? Is the author biased in his/her reporting of the facts or relatively balanced? Does the article engage you? Finally, how does the article fit into wide thinking of global perspectives?

Part one: Title of the article

Part two: Brief Summary of the article

identify at least 2-3 major arguments/evidence the author used to

support his/her points.

Part three: Your discussion/evaluation of the article

Select 1 author's argument as the most persuasive one and why?

Do you agree with the authors?

Why or why not?

Part four: Conclusion
