Task:
You will carry out some research into an educational smartphone app, evaluate it and present your findings in a written report.
To do the research, you will need to download the app to your phone so that you can analyse it in detail and record your findings and evaluation.
You should analyse the app, focussing on these three questions:
a. What is the main purpose of your app?
b. How does your app compare to similar apps on the market?
c. UXP: how good is the user experience?
In order guide your analysis you should use the ‘app evaluation toolkit’. This includes a list of key theories and thinkers who can be referred to.
You should present your findings in a written report. See the ‘Structure’ section below for details.
Guidance:
Your teacher will provide a list of smartphone apps you can choose from; however, you are free to select an
app of your own choice as long as it is an educational app and has been approved by your teacher.
To help you with your planning and preparation for this task, case study examples of app evaluations will be
shared with you in class during Cycle 2.
