Formal Analysis Paper – Assignment Instructions
For this assignment, you will choose one artwork made in the years 1850-1965 that is part of the permanent collection of the MFAH or Menil Collection and write a 3-4 page formal analysis of it. You may choose to work on an outdoor sculpture on the campus of either museum if you wish;
both of them have public sculptures that are accessible right now. Choose your artwork carefully, for you will be centering all of your writing assignments for this class on the artwork you select for this first assignment.
