Step 4 – Who Represents Me Essay
Prepare a formal research paper regarding the selected issue. The assignment must be between 5-7 pages excluding quotations, in-text citations, cover page, and Works Cited page(s).
The essay should address the following:
Who is the republican and democrat candidate running in your US House district?
Provide some background information about them. (Their education, occupation, have they run for office before, are they the incumbent, has either candidate been controversial.)
Explain how each candidate addresses the specific issue that you selected.
What are the main arguments around this issue?
Do you agree or disagree with either candidate about that issue? Explain why.
What insight does recent scholarship have about this issue? Highlight and discuss any claims that run counter to the existing scholarly research or discuss any claims that are consistent with that research” (Note: the section of the paper is a great opportunity to cite and reference the minimum number of academic journal articles!)
