Writing Assignment / Critical Analysis.
Each writing assignment consists of two parts: a biographical sketch of an artist, plus a critical analysis of an art piece by that same artist.
Here are the instructions for each:
Biographical sketch – This portion of the writing assignment should be comprised of biographical information on an artist of your choice.
•Must be at least 250 words in length.
•Must include a bibliography with at least 3 scholarly sources.
•Suggestions for material: Name, date, and place of birth and death, family information, lifetime accomplishments, famous art pieces, effects or impact on society, historical significance.
Critical Analysis – Choose a work of art by the same artist and from the same unit based on principles of design and the elements of art. This portion of the writing assignment should be your own opinion of a work of art by the same artist you chose for the biographical essay.
•The work of art must come from your textbook. Include an image and the title of the work, medium, date etc.
•Include a bibliography.
•Must be at least 250 words in length.
Minimum 500 words total (not including works cited, direct quotes, etc.)
