CJ 492 Paper Assignment Sheet
The purpose of this paper is to apply some of the methods/approaches you have learned in your criminal justice studies.
First, choose one part of the criminal justice system: police, corrections, courts, juvenile justice, etc.
Once you have chosen a part of the system, focus on one aspect that you believe is in critical need of change. For example, you might choose juvenile correctional facilities, and discuss the critical ways these facilities needed to be reformed. Be sure to take a balanced approach and give arguments and alternatives on every side of the issue.
What are the conventional arguments about reform? What insights would Benforado have into reform? Feel free to discuss the topic with the instructor. You will be required to turn in topics, outlines, and drafts of this paper.
You may use the Internet for your research. Some journals are on-line through our library system. Finally, the library has a books and journals on these topics. Do not use Wikipedia and other questionable internet resources. Since this is a major research paper, I expect that you will have at least ten references.
