This assignment requires you to make a close formal analysis of a single work of two-dimensional art in
an art gallery (in-person or virtual visit). The notes you make (below) about this work will serve as the
basis for a written analysis; you may want to print these pages out in hard copy to make notes on. You
do not have to hand these pages in (optional)—this is only to help you to organize your work.
Choose ONE work of two-dimensional art (painting, drawing, print, collage, photograph, etc.) that
appeals to you. Examine at it attentively from both far away and close up.
Don’t make your selection randomly: choose a work that will make an interesting and compelling
discussion and that you find particularly striking or memorable .
