Analyse its meaning, significance, and impact in society, and argue how and why it is iconic utilising the most relevant of the theories: Semiotics, Myth, Ideology, Material Culture, and Stereotype.
Apply your knowledge of the key theories: Semiotics, Myth, Ideology, Material Culture, and Stereotype and how these work to elevate the artefact to an Icon.
Documents regarding the theories (Semiotics, Myth, Ideology, Material Culture and Stereotypes, have been attached. Please read and apply to essay, where applicable and include references/in text citations, if required.
Please do not write about ‘the story’ of the Smiley Face icon, A ‘historical timeline’ is not adequate.
However, the history of The Smiley Face icon will be important to understanding of the icon, to carry out the analysis and evaluation to justify your answer.

3. The fact that an object holds iconic status reflects the values upheld by the culture, (what the culture holds to be important). You need to therefore research the culture’s ideologies, and the myths that support these ideologies.
