INDIGENOUS MEDIA RESPONSE PAPER  

This assignment is intended to introduce you to Indigenous/Aboriginal perspectives and Indigenous/Aboriginal related events in Canada.

Find a story about a First Nation issue in the newspaper, TV, Radio, Internet etc.  Write a personal reflection on the issue you find.

You may have to do additional research or additional reading, but please remember to include the ideas/observations you had while preparing this paper.

In your personal reflection, you may wish to comment on:

Identifying learning/knowledge that you have/will carry with you.

Surprising revelations, insights or perspectives you gained from your experience.

Relation of the event to material covered in the course, and exploring the historical relevance.

Ways the media coverage supports or refutes ideas, yours or others, about Aboriginal cultures and history that you’ve heard or are familiar with.

Were your personal experiences validated?  Did/do you find yourself questioning your beliefs and previous knowledge base?

ASSIGNMENT FORMAT

All assignments should be typed, double-spaced with one-inch margins on all sides.

Note the length requirements of each assignment and make sure to use a standard 12-point font, like Times New Roman. Headers (e.g. your name, date, page numbers) should be single spaced.

All references and citations should adhere to APA style.
