Psychological responses to injury:
Explain how the mind psychological responds to sports injuries – include some of the main responses people will experience, the bold words you created your list from, the cognitive, emotional and behavioural responses tables.
e.g: a high level of self-confidence is an important psychological factor in returning to sport after injury. A cognitive response (thoughts), could be somebody having reduced self-confidence, which would be detrimental…..
e.g: Anxiety and fear over reinjury is detrimental when returning to sport.

Assess how the mind responds to injury, including stages of injury (including rehab) – give examples! – use your timeline to consider the 5 stages, how the responses ranged from positive to negative depending what happens at each stage, how or why people respond this way.
What is the stress injury model? Explain/analyse.
Consider the stage-based approaches/ cognitive appraisal models.
Analyse the model you have – are there any problems applying this to athletes with sports injuries? What other factors would affect here that the model doesn’t consider?
